So I'd just like to say what our group is doing for the project. We are designing a database for The Women's Center of America, a local nonprofit organization. They are in need of a grant management system to keep track of their funding base, so we went ahead and promised them that we will help design the database. So no turning back, blogdog...
Anywhoo, after meeting up and discussing the ER diagram, it looks like we have more questions than answers, but I am confident that it will all work out in the end. One question that we have is how is the interace going to look like? How do we even design an interface? Because they aren't looking for us to hand them a bunch of SQL statements, I don't think. They have five objectives for their grant management system:
1) Gives alert for deadlines coming up
2) Scalability - easy to update
3) Simple interface
4) Multi-use access control
5) Formatting controls
I know the second project will allow us to put the database on the web through XML, would that be enough to meet their objectives? I'm not too sure on how it actually is going to work for them...
